WHAT IS A BLACK SPOT DISEASE
Black spot is a fungal disease commonly found on roses, but also on other flowers and fruits. While it doesn’t kill plants outright, it weakens them and makes them susceptible to other problems. In cool, moist weather, small black spots appear on the foliage, which starts to turn yellow and eventually drops off.
HOW TO PREVENT BLACK SPOT DISEASE
- Good quality and well-draining potting soil prevent most of the disease from occurring. As a preventive method, loosen the soil in the root of the plant. Prepare the mix of Epsom Salt + Bone Meal + Vermi Compost. Put this in the root and mix with soil and give water regularly as per plant's water need.
- Avoid getting the leaves wet while watering. There is not much you can do about rain, but avoid overhead sprinklers and focus water directly on the plant's roots.
- Keep the foliage as dry as possible, since the spores need a wet surface in order to germinate.
- Improve the air circulation around your plants by spacing them properly and pruning them regularly.
- Grow your plants where they will receive ample sunlight, which speeds the drying of the foliage.
HOW TO TREAT BLACK SPOT DISEASE
- Remove leaves that are affected by diseases. Take one liter water and mix 5 ML of organic Neem Oil & 5 ML bath shampoo mix them well in the water. Spray that solution on every leaf until it's fully wet. Repeat this spraying every week for few weeks.
- Every alternative day mix 40 ml of Agnastram with 1 liter of water and spray this solution on the plants once a day
- Be sure to spray the solutions entire plant, including the tops and bottoms of the leaves as well as the stems.
HOME REMEDIES
- Baking soda spray: Dissolve 1 teaspoon baking soda in 1 quart of warm water. Add up to 1 teaspoon of liquid soap. Spray leaves thoroughly. This mixture works as a preventive. It also offers some protection from powdery mildew.
